Frank Lampard has been awarded the League Managers Association Manager of the Year after leading Coventry City to promotion by winning the Championship title.

He was also chosen as the winner of the divisional honour at the LMA awards ceremony.

Among those shortlisted for the award were Mikel Arteta, who had been viewed as a strong contender after guiding Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 22 years, as well as Unai Emery of Aston Villa, Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth, Pep Guardiola of Manchester City, Keith Andrews of Brentford, Michael Skubala of Lincoln City, and Andy Woodman of Bromley.

Presentation of the Sir Alex Ferguson trophy

The Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy was presented to Lampard by England manager Thomas Tuchel at the annual event.

Sir Alex Ferguson did not attend the ceremony, but Tuchel read a message on his behalf stating: “I have enjoyed watching you (Lampard). Best of luck in the Premier League next season.”

Coventry City promotion achievement

Lampard guided Coventry City to the Championship title, securing promotion to the top flight for the first time since 2001.

This success marked a major achievement in his first full season leading the club.

Managerial career path

Lampard began his managerial career with Derby County in 2018, taking them to the Championship play-off final in 2019, where they lost to Aston Villa.

He later took charge of Chelsea, where he finished fourth in the Premier League and reached the FA Cup final in his first season.

He was dismissed in 2021 but later returned as caretaker manager and also went on to manage Everton, helping them avoid relegation to the Championship.
