Manchester City's title hopes ended after a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth, with Erling Haaland's late equaliser proving too little, too late.
Manchester City's Premier League title challenge came to an end after a frustrating 1-1 draw against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night. Pep Guardiola's side needed victory to keep the race alive heading into the final weekend, but the Cherries produced another fearless display on home soil.
The result also marked a historic night for Bournemouth, who secured European football for next season in Andoni Iraola's final home game in charge. Bournemouth remain in contention for Champions League qualification. City's late equaliser through Erling Haaland was not enough to rescue their fading hopes.
City started brightly and almost created an early opening when Antoine Semenyo teed up Jeremy Doku, but Djordje Petrovic produced a comfortable save. Manchester City responded quickly and thought they had taken the lead through Semenyo, only for the offside flag to intervene.

Despite the changes and growing possession, momentum failed to fully swing City's way. Kroupi curled another effort narrowly over the bar, while Brazilian teenager Rayan struck the outside of the post from close range after a Bournemouth corner. The hosts looked more likely to score again as City's defence continued to struggle against quick transitions.
David Brooks then missed two huge opportunities to seal victory late on. The substitute first fired wide from a promising position before racing clean through and smashing an effort against the post with only Donnarumma to beat.
City finally found their equaliser deep into stoppage time. Rodri struck the upright during a crowded scramble inside the Bournemouth box, and Haaland reacted quickest to sweep the rebound home in the 95th minute. The Norwegian grabbed the ball immediately in search of a dramatic winner, but the final whistle sounded moments later to confirm the end of City's title challenge.
Bournemouth extended their unbeaten Premier League run to 17 matches with another energetic display. City dominated possession with 54 percent of the ball and registered 14 shots, but only five tested Petrovic. The hosts produced 10 attempts of their own and repeatedly exposed City's defence on the counterattack.
Much of the attention before kick-off centred around Guardiola's uncertain future. Reports continue to suggest the Spaniard could leave at the end of the season after a glittering decade in Manchester. City's supporters repeatedly chanted for him to stay throughout the evening. However, their side looked flat after playing three matches in six days, including Saturday's FA Cup triumph over Chelsea.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, celebrated a landmark achievement after guaranteeing European football for the first time in club history. Iraola received a warm home farewell from supporters after another impressive performance from his side.
Manchester City host Aston Villa on the final day of the season, with the match potentially becoming Guardiola's farewell appearance at the Etihad Stadium. Bournemouth travel to Nottingham Forest still chasing a possible Champions League place depending on other results.
