While acknowledging the scale of the challenge, Slot pointed out that Liverpool have previously managed similar comebacks in Europe, although only twice when trailing by two or more goals after the first leg. He accepted that facing the current European champions makes the task more demanding but stressed it is not beyond reach.
He also admitted that the performance in Paris fell short of expectations. Liverpool failed to register a shot on target and were, in their own words, fortunate to concede only twice, making it clear that a much higher level will be needed in the return leg.
Slot drew attention to Liverpool’s recent scoring record at Anfield, highlighting that the team has scored at least twice in 36 of their last 50 home matches. Although he recognised that not every opponent matches PSG’s quality, he believes this consistency in front of goal provides a foundation for optimism.
The manager suggested that if his side can rediscover their attacking rhythm, they have the ability to put their opponents under real pressure. He maintained that their past performances at home show they are capable of far more than what they displayed in the first leg.
The Liverpool boss emphasised the importance of the supporters, recalling their influence in the previous round against Galatasaray. He expressed confidence that the Anfield atmosphere can once again play a decisive role on a big European night.

These games, he argued, demonstrate how quickly matches can change and how much better his team can perform compared to what they showed in Paris. He believes that even a single goal could alter the dynamic of the tie.
PSG will arrive at Anfield with additional recovery time after their Ligue 1 match against Lens was postponed. Szoboszlai admitted that this provides the French side with extra preparation and analysis time ahead of the second leg.
Despite this, he insisted that Liverpool must deal with the situation professionally, describing it as part of their responsibilities at the highest level of the game.
