Yet, for many fans, these achievements fall short of the club’s demanding benchmarks.

Barcelona then invested €50 million to bring him to Camp Nou in 2022, with additional clauses tied to his playing time. His development path—from Bordeaux to Sevilla and finally Barcelona—reflected a carefully built progression that prepared him for the highest level.
Poyet later highlighted Koundé’s dedication and professionalism, recalling how the defender sought extra training sessions and consistently worked on improving his game. Statistically, his impact is clear. He ranks among the team’s top performers in passing accuracy in the Champions League, while also leading in tackles and placing highly in interceptions. However, his durability may be his most valuable trait—since joining Barcelona, he has missed only 26 matches while making 183 appearances.
