Richarlison scores in the 90th minute to earn Tottenham a deserved 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield, denying the hosts a key Premier League victory.
Tottenham Hotspur rescued a dramatic late point at Anfield as Richarlison struck in the 90th minute to draw 1-1 with Liverpool. The Brazilian’s finish cancelled out Dominik Szoboszlai’s first-half free kick. It handed interim boss Igor Tudor his first Premier League point and rewarded a spirited Tottenham Hotspur performance.
Liverpool began steadily after Spurs made a bright start. Dominik Szoboszlai broke the deadlock in the 18th minute with a curling free kick from distance. Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario got a strong hand to the ball but could not keep it out. Liverpool nearly doubled their lead before the break when Cody Gakpo forced Vicario to tip a low effort onto the post. Spurs still carried threat through Richarlison up front.
Tottenham gradually grew into the contest and created better openings either side of half-time. Richarlison first headed narrowly wide before forcing Alisson Becker into an important save. The Brazilian continued to test Liverpool’s defence after the restart. He chased long balls and battled Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez throughout. Liverpool struggled to find the urgency needed to secure the points.
Liverpool looked set to grind out the win as the clock ticked toward full-time. Mohamed Salah and Hugo Ekitike were introduced from the bench to stretch the visitors. Yet Tottenham kept pressing for one final chance. In the 90th minute Randal Kolo Muani drove across the box and slipped a pass to Richarlison. The striker finished low past Alisson to stun Anfield.
Richarlison produced one of the standout displays of the afternoon. The forward registered five shots and forced several saves from his Brazil team-mate Alisson. His equaliser also continued a remarkable record against Liverpool, the opponent he has scored against most often in the Premier League.
Teenage winger Rio Ngumoha also impressed on his first league start for Liverpool. The 17-year-old repeatedly troubled Tottenham’s defence with direct running.
Richarlison finished with the most shots in the game and four on target. The goal was his 100th Premier League goal involvement, combining goals and assists. Liverpool again paid for late lapses in concentration. They have now conceded eight league goals in the 90th minute or later this season. Spurs also led the match for touches in Liverpool’s box through Richarlison alone.
Spurs earned their first point under interim boss Igor Tudor and will be hoping the result becomes a turning point in their season. They arrived at Anfield missing numerous players through injury and suspension yet showed resilience. Richarlison symbolised that fight with relentless pressing and movement. If Tottenham reproduce that energy, survival hopes will grow quickly.

Arne Slot’s side then travel to face Brighton & Hove Albion in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off. Tottenham also face a decisive European night against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
