
Bayern Munich beat Borussia Monchengladbach 4-1 despite Harry Kane missing the match, extending their Bundesliga lead to 14 points.
FC Bayern Munich powered to a commanding 4-1 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach at the Allianz Arena. The Bundesliga leaders produced an impressive performance despite the absence of injured striker Harry Kane.
The result moved Bayern 14 points clear at the top of the table. It also continued their remarkable scoring run this season as they chase another league title.
Bayern began the match on the front foot and quickly asserted control. Their passing was sharp and the attacking movement caused problems for the visitors. The home side created several promising openings during the early stages.
Lennart Karl thought he had given Bayern the lead in the 11th minute. His effort found the net but the assistant referee raised the flag for offside. Gladbach survived the early pressure but struggled to maintain possession.

Any hopes of a comeback were dealt a heavy blow early in the second half. Gladbach captain Rocco Reitz brought down Nicolas Jackson when the striker was through on goal. The referee awarded a penalty and showed a straight red card.
Jamal Musiala stepped forward to take the spot kick. The midfielder calmly converted from 12 yards to make it 3-0. It was Musiala’s first Bundesliga goal since returning from injury earlier this year.
Playing with ten men, Gladbach struggled to contain Bayern’s relentless attacks.
Bayern continued to dominate possession and create chances. Their fourth goal arrived in the 79th minute after another flowing move. Lennart Karl delivered a low cross into the penalty area.
Jackson arrived at the far post and tapped the ball in off the post. The goal highlighted Bayern’s attacking depth in Kane’s absence. The visitors did manage a late consolation goal.
Seventeen-year-old Wael Mohya reacted quickest after a saved effort. He converted the rebound to score his first Bundesliga goal and become Gladbach’s youngest scorer in the competition.
Diaz played a central role in Bayern’s attacking success. The Colombian scored the opening goal and assisted Laimer before half time. His movement and dribbling constantly troubled the Gladbach defence.
Musiala also impressed as he continues his return from injury. Jackson provided a strong presence in attack and capped his performance with a goal.
Bayern produced 3.05 expected goals from 18 shots during the match. Gladbach generated 1.04 expected goals from 10 attempts. The numbers reflected Bayern’s control throughout the contest.
Jackson registered the most touches in the opposition box and shared the highest number of shots. Diaz attempted the most dribbles while Karl and Goretzka created three chances each.
Bayern, led by Vincent Kompany, now prepare for a Champions League round of 16 trip to Atalanta BC on Tuesday.
Gladbach remain just three points above the relegation play off place currently occupied by SV Werder Bremen.
