Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal with Igor Tudor to become interim head coach until the end of the season. The 47-year-old replaces Thomas Frank, who was dismissed earlier this week following a damaging run of results. Spurs are currently 16th in the table and five points above the relegation zone. The club wanted a coach in place before the squad returned to training.
Tudor arrives in north London with a clear short-term mandate. His focus is to stabilise performances and quickly collect points, ahe decision reflects a desire for short term stability rather than a rushed long-term commitment. Tottenham’s hierarchy opted against a permanent appointment at this stage. That approach keeps options open for the summer. Experience in difficult situations was a decisive factor behind the decision.
Tudor’s track record of making quick impacts played a key role in his appointment. He was parachuted into difficult roles at Lazio and Juventus. At both clubs, he delivered short term improvement. Tottenham believe those qualities suit their current position.
He has managed across several European leagues. His career includes spells in Italy, France and Turkey. That experience is seen as valuable in handling pressure environments. Spurs also value his reputation for discipline and intensity.
Tudor has been out of work since leaving Juventus in October. His seven-month spell ended after an eight-match winless run in all competitions. Juventus were eighth in Serie A when he departed. Across 17 league matches, he won eight games and recorded a 47.1 percent win rate.
Earlier in 2025, he guided Juventus into the Champions League after taking over in March. At Lazio, he won five of nine matches to secure seventh place. His only managerial trophy came in 2013 with Hajduk Split. That success came less than a month after his appointment.
Tottenham’s recent form has been alarming. The club has won just two of its last 17 league matches. Defensive errors and a lack of cohesion have been persistent issues. Tudor is expected to prioritise structure and organisation.
He often favours a back three system. High intensity and compact spacing are hallmarks of his teams. Attacking freedom may be limited initially. Results will matter more than aesthetics in the coming weeks.
