Barcelona continued their positive run in La Liga with a home victory over Mallorca at the Spotify Camp Nou, though the contest did not begin smoothly for the hosts. The opening 45 minutes saw the visitors cause consistent problems, particularly when pushing forward, as the Catalan side struggled to control proceedings.

Mallorca came close to taking the lead during this spell, with Vedat Muriqi presented with their clearest opportunity. Jan Virgili delivered a low ball across the area, but the striker was unable to apply the finishing touch by the narrowest of margins.

Lewandowski and Yamal turn the match

Mallorca’s inability to capitalise was soon punished. Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring after a blocked attempt from Marcus Rashford fell kindly into his path. Showing composure, the forward delayed his effort before converting to give Barcelona the breakthrough.

Shortly after the interval, the home side strengthened their grip on the match. A cleverly worked short corner ended with Dani Olmo sliding the ball to Lamine Yamal, who struck decisively from just outside the box. The goal marked his fifth consecutive league appearance with a goal.

Late goals seal comfortable victory

With an important Copa del Rey semi-final against Atletico Madrid approaching, Yamal was withdrawn soon after his goal. Despite the change, Barcelona remained on the front foot and added further gloss late on.

The final strike came seven minutes from time when Fermin Lopez released Marc Bernal inside the area. The midfielder evaded a challenge before finishing at the near post, registering his first goal for the club and putting the result beyond doubt.

Barcelona closed out the match without further difficulty. Although they were under pressure early, the opening goal shifted momentum decisively. The win strengthens their position at the top of the table, moving them four points ahead of Real Madrid, who have the opportunity to narrow the gap when they face Valencia at Mestalla on Sunday night.
