Yamal stunner helps Barca beat Oviedo and go top of LaLiga

Barcelona beat Real Oviedo 3-0 at Camp Nou as goals from Olmo, Raphinha and Yamal moved Hansi Flick’s side one point clear in LaLiga.

Barcelona moved one point clear at the top of LaLiga after a composed 3-0 win over bottom side Real Oviedo at Spotify Camp Nou. Second half goals from Dani Olmo, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal turned a frustrating evening into a comfortable result.
Hansi Flick’s side now sit on 52 points, edging ahead of rivals Real Madrid, who had briefly climbed above them earlier in the weekend. Atletico Madrid remain third, eight points adrift, while Oviedo stay rooted to the foot of the table and eight points from safety.

Slow burn before the breakthrough

Barca dominated possession from the outset but struggled to convert control into clear chances before the break. Oviedo defended deep and pressed selectively, forcing the hosts into rushed passes around the box. The best chance of the first half fell to Raphinha, but Aaron Escandell stood firm at his near post.
The visitors threatened sporadically on the counter and tested Joan Garcia late in the half. Ilyas Chaira forced a sharp save from a tight angle, underlining Barca’s need for greater tempo. Despite heavy rain, the home crowd remained patient as Flick urged more urgency.

Olmo sparks second half response

Barcelona emerged sharper after the restart and found the breakthrough six minutes in. A defensive lapse while playing out from the back allowed Olmo to collect possession and drill a low finish into the bottom corner. It was the midfielder’s sixth league goal of the season.
The opener settled nerves and quickly led to a second. David Costas under hit a back pass, allowing Raphinha to pounce and calmly dink the ball over the advancing Escandell. Barca had turned control into command within five minutes.

Yamal provides the highlight

With Oviedo stretched, Barca continued to press high and create space. Lamine Yamal had already tested Escandell earlier in the half and finally delivered a moment of brilliance in the 73rd minute. Olmo’s lofted ball found the teenager, who produced a sublime bicycle kick into the net.
The goal drew gasps around Camp Nou and effectively ended the contest. Yamal’s confidence and composure stood out again, adding end product to his growing influence. Flick later praised the balance between patience and intensity shown after the interval.

Numbers that mattered

Barcelona finished with 15 shots and an expected goals figure above two, reflecting their second half dominance. Oviedo managed limited threat, ending with under 0.5 expected goals from the match. Barca have now won 10 straight home league games under Flick, their best such run since 2019.
Raphinha continued his strong run of form, leading Barca for goals across all competitions in 2026. Olmo’s ability to find pockets of space proved decisive once Oviedo tired. The clean sheet also pleased Flick after recent defensive tests.

What’s next

Attention now turns to Europe, with Barcelona hosting Copenhagen in the Champions League on Wednesday. A top eight finish remains the target as they aim to avoid the play offs. In LaLiga, momentum is building as the title race tightens. Hansi Flick’s men will play Elche next weekend. With confidence restored, Barca know every point will count in the weeks ahead.
