Wolves snatch vital point at Old Trafford as Man United stumble again

Wolves end an 11-match losing run with a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford as Manchester United are booed off after another flat display.

Wolves ended their long Premier League losing run with a hard earned 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford. The result snapped an 11-match streak of defeats and delivered Rob Edwards his first point as Wolves manager. United, missing several senior players, were booed off at full time. It was another frustrating night for Ruben Amorim’s side.

United strike first but fail to control the game

Manchester United took the lead in the 27th minute through Joshua Zirkzee. The striker turned sharply inside the box before his shot deflected off Ladislav Krejci. The change of direction wrong footed Jose Sa and crept into the corner.
United had chances to build on the lead. Benjamin Sesko struck the post from close range and later headed straight at Sa. However, the home side lacked fluency and struggled to dictate tempo.

Wolves grow into the contest before the break

Wolves showed more belief as the first half progressed. Hugo Bueno forced a smart save from Senne Lammens with a low effort. United failed to respond and allowed pressure to grow.
The equaliser arrived just before half time. Krejci found space at the far post and headed in from eight yards. It was a deserved goal after sustained Wolves pressure.

Missed chances and VAR drama after the restart

The second half followed a similar pattern. United had more of the ball but created little of real quality. Wolves remained organised and carried threat on the break.
Lammens produced a vital double save to deny Krejci and Yerson Mosquera in quick succession. At the other end, Jose Sa clawed Mosquera’s header off his own goal line. Jhon Arias later dragged a shot narrowly wide for the visitors.

Late controversy sums up United frustration

Patrick Dorgu thought he had won it in the final minute. He reacted quickest after a Sesko effort was parried. A lengthy VAR check confirmed he was offside.
The decision drew loud groans from the stands. Boos followed at the final whistle. United missed the chance to move into the top four.

Key moments and standout performers

Krejci stood out for Wolves at both ends. He scored the equaliser and nearly added another after the break. Mosquera also impressed with his defensive work and aerial presence.
For United, Ayden Heaven was a bright spot. He drove forward to create Zirkzee’s goal. Lammens made several important saves to preserve a point.

The numbers tell a worrying story

This was Wolves’ third draw and third point of the season. It was their first point since 5 October. They remain 15 points from safety despite the morale boost.
United have now won just once in their last four league games. They failed to record back-to-back clean sheets again. The draw leaves them sixth in the table at the end of 2025.

What comes next

Manchester United travel to Leeds United on Sunday, January 4thbefore facing Burnley on January 7th. Wolves host fellow strugglers West Ham at Molineux on Saturday, January 3rd before travelling to Everton on January 7th. Both sides face crucial fixtures as the season turns into 2026.
While this felt like a small step forward for Wolves,  for United the questions around consistency and creativity remain unanswered.
