Gonçalo Ramos scored a stoppage-time header as PSG defeated Nice 1-0 at Parc des Princes to stay top of Ligue 1 ahead of Monaco.
Paris Saint-Germain left it late once again, as Gonçalo Ramos’ stoppage-time header secured a 1-0 victory over Nice at the Parc des Princes. The Portuguese forward struck in the fourth minute of added time to ensure the champions remained top of Ligue 1.
Luis Enrique’s men appeared set for another frustrating draw after a stubborn display from Nice. But Ramos rose highest to meet Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s flick from Lee Kang-In’s corner, sending the home fans into wild celebrations.
Despite dominating possession, PSG found it difficult to penetrate Nice’s disciplined back line. The visitors, unbeaten in their last four games, defended deep and relied on counterattacks led by Hicham Boudaoui and Antoine Mendy.
Vitinha tested goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf with a fierce strike midway through the second half, but the Nice shot-stopper was equal to the task. Ousmane Dembélé’s introduction in the 72nd minute injected pace, while Ramos hit the post just eight minutes later.
When Diouf tipped Ramos’ header over the bar deep into stoppage time, it seemed PSG’s luck had run out. Moments later, though, the Portuguese striker pounced on the resulting corner to snatch all three points.
Gonçalo Ramos, marking his 100th appearance for PSG, once again proved decisive in crunch time. His clinical finishing and late-game instinct have become a signature under Luis Enrique.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also impressed, providing the crucial assist and unsettling Nice’s defenders throughout the match. In midfield, Fabián Ruiz made a welcome return from injury, while Willian Pacho anchored a solid defensive unit that earned PSG a fifth clean sheet in six matches.
Nice, on their part, were organized and compact. Goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf stood out with several key saves, denying Vitinha, Dembélé, and Ramos before finally being beaten at the death.
PSG controlled 77% of possession and completed over 800 passes with 91% accuracy. The Parisians fired 28 shots, eight of which were on target, compared to Nice’s five total attempts.
The win preserved PSG’s unbeaten home record this season and lifted them to 24 points from 11 matches, two clear of Marseille in second place. Ramos’ strike marked his 38th goal for the club and his fourth of the Ligue 1 campaign.
Luis Enrique’s side now shift focus to the UEFA Champions League, where they face Bayern Munich at the Parc des Princes on November 4. Domestically, PSG will travel to Lyon on November 9 for another challenging Ligue 1 encounter.
Nice, meanwhile, have a Europa League fixture against Freiburg on November 6. In Ligue 1, Franck Haise’s side will aim to bounce back when they travel to Metz next weekend. Though not their most convincing display, PSG’s fighting spirit once again shone through when it mattered most, proving that even in the dying seconds, the champions still find a way.
