Bayern Munich eased past Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 to record their 15th straight win of the season and move five points clear at the top.
Bayern Munich maintained their perfect start to the season with a 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena. Goals from Serge Gnabry, Nicolas Jackson, and a Loic Bade own goal sealed a dominant victory for Vincent Kompany’s side.
The result extended Bayern’s remarkable run to 15 consecutive wins in all competitions, nine of which have come in the Bundesliga. The Bavarians set a Bundesliga record as the only team to open the scoring in each of their first nine games of the season. This result also ended Leverkusen’s 37-game unbeaten away streak in the league, a record that had stretched over two seasons.
Despite resting key players like Harry Kane, Luis Diaz, and Michael Olise, Bayern barely missed a beat. The defending champions controlled the match from start to finish and once again underlined their depth and quality.
Serge Gnabry opened the scoring on his 250th Bundesliga appearance. The winger latched onto a precise through ball from Tom Bischof before slotting past goalkeeper Mark Flekken in the 25th minute. It was Gnabry’s 95th Bundesliga goal, a fitting way to mark his milestone outing.
Just six minutes later, Bayern doubled their advantage. Konrad Laimer delivered a pinpoint cross from the right, and Nicolas Jackson rose highest to head home his first Bundesliga goal since joining on loan from Chelsea.
Leverkusen’s misery deepened before halftime when Raphael Guerreiro’s cross deflected off Loic Bade and into his own net. By the interval, Bayern were already out of sight and cruising toward another routine victory.
Kompany’s side continued to dictate play after the break, though the tempo slowed with the result beyond doubt. Jackson came close to adding a second, heading wide from another Laimer delivery, while Guerreiro tested Flekken with a curling shot.
The introduction of Kane, Diaz, and Olise on the hour mark showcased Bayern’s unmatched depth. Even with wholesale rotations, the champions never lost control of the game. Leverkusen, on the other hand, failed to register a shot on target until the 80th minute and struggled to cope with Bayern’s relentless press.
Tom Bischof stood out in left back with maturity beyond his years. The 19-year-old not only provided the opening assist but also completed the most challenges by any Bayern player. His composure and creativity gave Kompany’s men a steady rhythm in possession.
Gnabry’s opener was the catalyst for Bayern’s dominance, while Jackson’s powerful header confirmed his growing confidence. Laimer was influential down the right flank, contributing both defensively and offensively. At the back, Jonathan Tah led with authority against his former club, ensuring another clean sheet.
Leverkusen’s Ernest Poku showed flashes of pace but lacked support in attack. The visitors’ defensive errors proved costly in a game where Bayern’s efficiency made all the difference.
Bayern Munich now turn their attention to Europe, with a Champions League trip to Paris Saint-Germain on November 4. They return to Bundesliga duty next weekend against Union Berlin.
Leverkusen, who remain fifth, will aim to regroup when they travel to face Jose Mourinho’s Benfica in the Champions League on November 5 before hosting Heidenheim in the league next weekend.
