Manchester United return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon as they host Fulham at Old Trafford, looking to build on a strong run of results under interim boss Michael Carrick.
Since stepping into the caretaker role earlier this month, Carrick has overseen eye-catching victories over both Manchester City and Arsenal. The former midfielder will now aim to extend that momentum against the Cottagers, with attention also turning toward United’s long-term transfer plans.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Manchester United are prepared to make a club-record offer to secure Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba. The Red Devils are reportedly willing to commit as much as £100 million in a bid to land the 22-year-old during the summer transfer window.
Baleba moved to Brighton from Lille in 2023 and has gone on to establish himself as a key figure, registering 98 appearances for the south coast side across all competitions. His performances have placed him firmly on United’s shortlist, after their failed attempt to sign him ahead of the current season.
Brighton are understood to be unwilling sellers, having had no plans to allow Baleba to leave during the January window. That reluctance, combined with his long-term contract running until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, means any potential transfer would command a significant fee.
Chelsea are also believed to be monitoring the situation, adding competition to the pursuit. Despite Brighton’s firm position, the midfielder himself is reportedly open to a move to Old Trafford.
Baleba has continued to impress at club level and recently represented Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, further underlining his growing profile ahead of a possible summer move.
