Petrojet defender Hady Riyad seals winter switch to Ahly

Petrojet Club revealed on Wednesday that centre-back Hady Riyad has left the team after agreeing to a transfer to Ahly, bringing an end to his spell with the Cairo-based petroleum side.

Petrojet Club revealed on Wednesday that centre-back Hady Riyad has left the team after agreeing to a transfer to Ahly, bringing an end to his spell with the Cairo-based petroleum side.

The Egyptian Premier League outfit released a short announcement expressing appreciation to the defender for his contribution while wishing him success ahead of his next step with the Red Devils.

Riyad, aged 27, is now set to begin a fresh stage of his career after completing the move during the ongoing January transfer period.

Details of the agreement

Reports within Egypt indicate that Ahly wrapped up the transfer for a fee believed to be worth 30 million Egyptian pounds.

The payment is understood to be split into two equal sums of 15 million pounds, with an additional five million pounds tied to potential bonuses.

Those bonuses are reportedly dependent on Ahly lifting the CAF Champions League trophy.

Riyad’s record and Ahly activity

The defender arrived at Petrojet in the summer of 2021 after leaving Wadi Degla and went on to feature 43 times across all tournaments, finding the net on two occasions.

His switch makes him Ahly’s fifth addition of the winter window, following deals for Marwan Osman, Ahmed Eid, Amr El-Gazzar, and Moroccan centre-back Youssef Belammari.

In the league standings, Ahly currently sit third on 26 points, trailing Pyramids FC by one point and leaders Ceramica Cleopatra by six, with the table-toppers having played an extra match.
