Tunisia’s football authorities have named Sabri Lamouchi as the country’s new head coach, confirming the decision in an official announcement released on Wednesday.
The 54-year-old tactician from France steps into the role following the departure of Sami Trabelsi, whose tenure ended after the national team was eliminated in the round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
According to the federation, Lamouchi has agreed to a contract that will see him lead the senior side until July 31, 2028.
Lamouchi brings broad managerial experience, having previously worked in both international and club football.
His résumé includes spells in England’s second division with Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City, as well as a period in charge of Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais.
At the international level, he has also held responsibility for the Ivory Coast, adding further pedigree to his profile.
Born in Lyon and linked to Tunisia through family heritage, Lamouchi now returns to the international stage with a major tournament on the horizon.
Tunisia has already secured qualification for this year’s World Cup.
They will compete in Group F, where they are set to face the Netherlands, Japan, and a side emerging from the European play-offs.
