Ahly announced on Tuesday that midfielder Mohamed “Afsha” Magdi will spend the next six months with Ittihad of Alexandria on a loan basis.
The switch comes after the Cairo club approved a short-term deal for the 29-year-old, allowing him to gain regular minutes away from Ahly.
Ittihad of Alexandria will host the player for the remainder of the current period before he is due to return.
Afsha arrived at Ahly in 2019 after making his name at Pyramids FC and quickly established himself as an influential figure in the squad.
His status among supporters was cemented when he struck the decisive goal against Zamalek in the 2020 CAF Champions League final.
In later seasons, opportunities became limited as he slipped down the pecking order under Marcel Koller, Jose Riveiro, and current manager Jess Thorup.
Across his time with Ahly, the midfielder featured 277 times in all tournaments, contributing 45 goals along with 50 assists.
Before departing on loan, Afsha addressed fans through a message posted on Instagram on Tuesday.
He recalled memories from competitions such as the CAF Champions League, the Egyptian League, and the FIFA Club World Cup, expressing hope that his absence will be brief and followed by a stronger return.
