West Ham complete Сastellanós arrival on long-term agreement

West Ham have finalised the recruitment of forward Valentin “Taty” Castellanos from Lazio, securing his services on a deal lasting four and a half seasons that also includes a possible twelve-month extension.

West Ham have finalised the recruitment of forward Valentin “Taty” Castellanos from Lazio, securing his services on a deal lasting four and a half seasons that also includes a possible twelve-month extension.

The transfer fee has not been disclosed by either side, but the Premier League club confirmed the paperwork has been completed ahead of the winter schedule.

Castellanos becomes another addition during the mid-season window as the London outfit looks to reinforce its attacking options during a difficult league campaign.

Productive spell in Italy and international recognition

The Argentine attacker moved to Serie A in 2023 and featured regularly for Lazio, registering 98 outings across competitions.

During that period, he contributed directly to 38 goals, combining 22 finishes with 16 final passes for teammates.

His performances in Europe helped earn senior international recognition, with the striker collecting two appearances for Argentina after making his debut last year.

Before his time in Rome, Castellanos had spells with New York City FC and Girona, gaining experience in both Major League Soccer and La Liga.

Manager backing and squad context

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo revealed that Castellanos had been pinpointed as a priority addition to the squad during January planning.

The forward responded by pledging full commitment, highlighting his combative approach and determination to bring intensity to every fixture.

He described each contest as a fight and said his aim is to inject energy and resilience whenever he steps onto the pitch.

Castellanos follows Brazilian attacker Pablo Felipe as Nuno’s second signing of the window, with Felipe arriving earlier from Gil Vicente in a deal reportedly worth 25 million euros.

West Ham currently occupy 18th place in the Premier League table and are preparing for a crucial clash on Tuesday against Nottingham Forest, who sit four points clear in 17th.
