The Egypt national side left for Morocco on Wednesday to begin their final build-up for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with head coach Hossam Hassan leading the travelling party.

The upcoming tournament represents the 35th edition of the continental competition and will be staged across Morocco between 21 December 2025 and 18 January 2026. A total of 24 teams will compete for the title.

Egypt are aiming to reclaim the trophy for the first time since 2010, when they secured their record seventh triumph, as they chase an unprecedented eighth crown.

Group B assignment and match schedule

The Pharaohs have been placed in Group B, where they will face Angola, South Africa, and Zimbabwe during the opening phase of the competition.

All of Egypt’s group fixtures will take place in the coastal city of Agadir, which has been selected as the team’s base for the duration of the first round.

Their campaign begins on 22 December against Zimbabwe, followed by a meeting with South Africa on 26 December, before wrapping up the group stage three days later with a clash against Angola.

The final squad confirmed and key arrivals

Hossam Hassan opted to keep faith with all 28 players named in his provisional selection, confirming the same group for Africa’s flagship international tournament.

The travelling delegation has been strengthened by the inclusion of overseas-based stars Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Manchester City attacker Omar Marmoush, both of whom linked up with the squad ahead of departure.

Egyptian Football Association board member Hamada El-Sherbeni is heading the official delegation as the team prepares for the challenge ahead.
