PSG star Dembélé claims best men’s player honour

Ousmane Dembélé collected the Best FIFA Men’s Player prize for 2025 on Tuesday night, sealing a rare awards double after taking home the Ballon d’Or earlier in September.

The France international played a decisive role as Paris Saint-Germain finally captured the Champions League title that had long eluded the club.

His performances placed him ahead of Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé in the final standings for the individual honor.

Recognition from a global vote

Unlike the Ballon d’Or, FIFA’s flagship accolade is determined by a combined ballot involving national team captains, head coaches, media representatives, and supporters worldwide.

Despite the broader voting base, the outcome remained unchanged, with Dembélé emerging as the clear choice for 2025.

A major factor behind his selection was a successful tactical transformation, as he thrived in a central attacking role rather than operating on the flank.

Team of the year and coaching acclaim

Dembélé and Yamal were both included in The Best FIFA Men’s XI, while Mbappé missed out on selection.

The midfield featured the England pair Cole Palmer and Jude Bellingham alongside Paris Saint-Germain’s Vitinha and Barcelona playmaker Pedri.

Gianluigi Donnarumma was named as goalkeeper, supported in defense by Achraf Hakimi, Willian Pacho, Nuno Mendes, and Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk.

PSG’s achievements were further underlined when Luis Enrique received the men’s coach of the year award, having guided a youthful, high-energy squad to continental success during the 2024–25 campaign.
