Al Qadsiah have confirmed the appointment of Brendan Rodgers as their new head coach, marking a significant change on the bench at the Al Khobar-based club.
The Roshn Saudi League side, currently occupying fifth place in the standings, announced the decision on Tuesday. Rodgers steps into the role previously held by former Real Madrid star Michel.
The club views the move as a strategic step as it looks to strengthen its position among the league’s leading contenders.
Chief Executive Officer James Bisgrove described the recruitment process as extensive and international in scope, expressing satisfaction at its outcome.
Bisgrove said the arrival of Rodgers represents a defining moment for Al Qadsiah, highlighting the coach’s background and record of success as a reflection of the club’s ambitions.
He added that the appointment aligns with a broader plan to establish Al Qadsiah as a major force within Asian football over the coming years.
Rodgers, who was born in Northern Ireland, brings decades of top-level managerial experience from several prominent clubs.
His most trophy-laden period came during his spells at Celtic, where he secured a total of 11 domestic honors, including four league championships.
The 52-year-old also guided Leicester City to their first-ever FA Cup triumph in 2021 and oversaw consecutive fifth-place finishes in the English Premier League. Earlier in his career, he spent three seasons in charge of Liverpool, finishing second in the 2013–14 league campaign.
Rodgers is set to take charge of his first match with Al Qadsiah during Matchweek 11, when the team hosts Damac on December 27.
Sporting Director Carlos Anton welcomed the new coach, praising his tactical approach and suitability for the club’s footballing direction.
Anton stated that Rodgers will inherit a motivated squad eager to progress and confirmed that the coach will collaborate closely with performance, medical, recruitment, and analysis units to support the club’s continued development.
