Plans are already taking shape in Catalonia ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window, with defensive reinforcements high on the agenda. Barcelona have been monitoring several centre-back options, including contract-expiry candidates such as Marc Guehi and Dayot Upamecano.

Alongside those names, attention has also turned toward Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck. The German international has built a strong reputation in the Bundesliga thanks to his composure on the ball, strength in duels, and tactical awareness at the back.

Dortmund establish a valuation for Schlotterbeck

Concerns had existed that Dortmund would demand a substantial fee for one of their most important players. That uncertainty has now been clarified following a report from SportBILD, relayed by Diario SPORT.

According to the update, the German club are prepared to negotiate only if an offer of around €50 million is presented. The figure reflects Schlotterbeck’s standing in domestic football and his potential to reach the level previously associated with Mats Hummels.

Why Schlotterbeck fits Barcelona’s blueprint

The Dortmund centre-half matches many of the technical and physical traits Barcelona are seeking. A left-sided defender with pace, he is comfortable playing behind an aggressive defensive line and excels in building play from deep areas.

His presence in the air adds further value, particularly during dead-ball situations, where he has already scored seven times since joining Dortmund. Beyond his skill set, Schlotterbeck also brings significant experience, having made close to 150 competitive appearances for the club and earning 23 senior call-ups for Germany.

This reported valuation follows earlier indications that the defender is open to a future away from Dortmund, setting the stage for potential developments in the months ahead.
