Barcelona’s search for a new forward ahead of the 2026 season continues, with the club eyeing possible replacements for Robert Lewandowski, whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign. Among the names attracting attention at Camp Nou is Levante striker Karl Etta Eyong, whose standout performances in La Liga have impressed the Catalan giants.
The 23-year-old has found the net six times so far this season, earning widespread praise for his consistency and finishing ability. Reports from GiveMeSport indicate that Barcelona have been monitoring his development closely, as they consider their options for the post-Lewandowski era.
Reacting to speculation linking him with Barcelona, Etta Eyong expressed gratitude for the recognition but stressed that his current focus remains on his team.
“It’s a huge honour to be mentioned with a club like Barcelona. It means my effort is being recognised,” he said. “But right now, I’m committed to Levante and focused on continuing my progress here. The future will take care of itself.”
Despite acknowledging the flattering interest, the striker made it clear that he intends to maintain his concentration on the present campaign with Levante, rather than be distracted by transfer rumours.
While Etta Eyong is thriving in Spain, his long-term dream lies in England. The forward revealed that after fulfilling his goal of playing in La Liga, he now hopes to test himself in the Premier League.
“Playing in La Liga was a dream come true, but my next ambition is to play in the Premier League,” he said. “I think my physicality and link-up play would fit perfectly with English football.”
He also shared his admiration for the intensity of the league and its festive schedule. “I love watching the Boxing Day fixtures — the energy is incredible, every game feels like a final,” he added.
When asked which club he would most like to represent, Etta Eyong didn’t hesitate to mention Chelsea, a team he followed closely as a youngster.
“Chelsea was the club I watched the most growing up because of Drogba, and Eto’o was there too. The club has always had amazing African players. Playing for Chelsea one day would be a dream.”
