Jurčić cautious ahead of Super Cup clash with Zamalek

Pyramids FC boss Krunoslav Jurčić dismissed suggestions that his side hold any clear edge over Zamalek before their Egyptian Super Cup semifinal on Thursday.

Pyramids FC boss Krunoslav Jurčić dismissed suggestions that his side hold any clear edge over Zamalek before their Egyptian Super Cup semifinal on Thursday.

Despite his team’s impressive recent form, Jurčić predicted a tight contest, saying that both sides face challenges going into the match. Pyramids have been in excellent rhythm, collecting back-to-back continental trophies and maintaining a six-match winning streak in the domestic competition.

Zamalek, meanwhile, continue to battle instability both on and off the pitch, struggling with financial and technical difficulties. Yet the Croatian coach was quick to stress that such factors would not make the match any easier.

“Zamalek’s current situation does not mean the game will be simple,” he told reporters. “We also have players missing, and the result could hinge on minor moments.”

Managing success and expectations

Jurčić admitted that sustaining the team’s current level brings its own complications. He noted that maintaining focus after recent achievements is a key part of his job.

“The biggest task for me is to keep the team performing at the highest level,” he explained. “Winning breeds ambition, and my personal goals with Pyramids have no limits.”

The coach’s measured tone reflected both confidence and caution, aware that consistency is vital if his side is to continue their success on multiple fronts.

Captain’s determination to deliver

Team skipper Mohamed El-Shennawy echoed his manager’s sentiments, emphasizing that the squad remains fully concentrated on the challenge ahead.

A former Zamalek player himself, El-Shennawy said the players were united by a single aim — to lift the Super Cup. “We have come here to compete and to win,” he affirmed.

His words underscored the focused mindset within the Pyramids camp as they prepare for one of the season’s most anticipated fixtures.
